Sara Potter
Associate General Counsel
Sara Potter Potter joined the University of Central Florida in 2019, and she serves as Associate General Counsel for the University. She provides comprehensive legal advice to academic and business units across the University, with a particular focus on labor and employment issues, civil rights, and student affairs. Sara also manages the University’s litigation caseload, overseeing outside counsel while guiding university stakeholders through all stages of the litigation process. Additionally, Sara is a trusted resource for questions on University records, as she oversees the public records function and advises on records retention and FERPA.
Sara currently serves on several University committees including the Title IX Advisory Committee, University Crisis Team, Campus Events Response Team, Clery Compliance Committee, UCF Council on Accessibility, and the Academic Integrity University Committee.
Outside of the University, Sara frequently volunteers to speak at meetings of the National Association for College and University Attorneys, most recently on hot topics in student affairs.
Prior to joining the University, she practiced in the areas of labor and employment law and litigation at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. and GrayRobinson, P.A. both in Orlando, Florida.
Sara received her B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University and her J.D., summa cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law, where she served as President of the Moot Court team and Article Editor for the Florida State University Law Review. She is admitted to practice in the state and federal district courts of Florida.
